The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA), sponsors several key programs and services designed to address the needs of students majoring in the fields of accounting, finance, or business administration. If you are a student interested in obtaining the grooming necessary to begin a successful career in business, obtaining competencies that are not taught in the classroom such as Business Etiquette, Networking, and Money Management, then NABA can equip you with these and more. NABA's programs and services include the following:

The National Scholarship Program is administered at the national and local level. These competitive scholarships are awarded to deserving and successful college students to assist in furthering their education.

The Southwest Western Regional Student Conference is held annually. The focus during this conference is on career development and placement, as well as preparation for entry into the accounting/finance profession. Moreover, at the conference, students have the opportunity to vie for an interview for internships and permanent positions with corporate partners and/or exhibitors at the conference. For more information about the October 2010 student conference here in Austin, Texas click here.

The ACHIEVE student newsletter is dedicated to keeping you up-to-date with information on the business world, updates on NABA activities, and articles written to motivate growth and development in the reader. The newsletter is published three times a year.

The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) is a one-week residency program for high school students interested in a career in business. The primary objective of the ACAP is to increase the number of high school students from underrepresented ethnic groups that attend college and major in accounting. The ACAP Committee is responsible for planning and organizing a one-week summer residency program for high school students. The program is held annually at the University of Texas at Austin. The program introduces students to the accounting and finance profession through a carefully tailored curriculum involving UT Austin faculty and guest lecturers. For more information about the ACAP program and registration, click here.

NABA also sponsors the Annual National Convention during which both professionals and students interact with representatives from organizations interested in hiring. At the convention, forums are held to discuss major issues of the African American community and many social activities are planned to make sure you have a chance to express yourself.
